A DIFFERENT SORTING QUIZ

I have always been very interested in the Hogwarts Sorting Quiz and other personality tests. I know many of you love them just like I do. This is one I created by myself without using any other sources. Be sure to check out the key along with explanations in the end. Enjoy, and of course, let me know about anything you would change. A little tip before you start - To get it the way I desired it to be, I would recommend letting go of any stereotypes you have beforehand about how each house should behave, and just answer in the moment for yourself. Stereotypes only prevent us from fully being ourselves, and I claim beforehand that I may have purposefully attempted to break them here.
Disclaimer: I do not make any claims of accuracy. This is purely for entertainment. Enjoy reading the explanations and feel free to disagree.

1. You have an exam in an hour but you only just came to know? How do you figure this situation out?

A. Cram in as much last-minute information as you can. This is not the time to be anxious.

B. Get anxious and almost pass out, needing restorative potions, then follow a one-hour game plan from a guidebook.

C. Attempt to guess what questions might be asked, and crop out the syllabus for yourself accordingly.

D. Just go over the basics and decide to make up the rest during the exam.

2. You enter a temple and are told that one of you will henceforth rule the magical world. Your choice of objects will be the first gift given to you as the ruler. All these objects can be very useful depending on what your first goal as the one in power is. What would be your choice? Reminder- You can't choose anything only for yourself, these are only for the inhabitants of your land, including yourself.

A. A box of healing potions to alleviate all sicknesses.

B. A heavy metal box full of neverending gold to ensure nobody is poor.

C. A black wooden box full of secrets to teach the art of happy and healthy living.

D. A set of organized laws to help govern the country in the best manner.

3. Which of the following charity funds are you most likely to be donating to? (Please note: None of the causes are inferior. Donating to different causes is what keeps everything taken care of.)

A. Welfare of house elves.

B. DueIling clubs for free.

C. Welfare of magical creatures.

D. Industry for magical weapons.

4. A voice calls to you from an unknown place, saying that they are your friend and have important information that you will need in the future. What is your instinctive and instant reaction?

A. You follow the voice, instantly.

B. You follow the voice but with your wand out.

C. You say "Alright, I am coming" to buy time, then go over all the existing information in your head about voices from the unknown. Meanwhile, in the guise of talking, you ask an array of sneaky questions about who sent them to seek you out.

D. You ask the voice to show you some sort of proof or sign that they are indeed your friend.

5. Your friend lies to you. The next time your friend asks for your help, and wants to make peace, what are you likely to do?

A. Put on a fake smile and plot revenge.

B. Go out of your way to help, but act aloof otherwise and share no secrets.

C. Forgive your friend and go back to being who you are. After all, everybody deserves another chance.

D. Put your friend through a series of tests, unbeknownst to them, to test their loyalty to you.

Explanations and result key (Give one point to the house written beside each option number that you chose for each question, meaning there are total 5 points to be given, if you choose only one option per question. The house that gets the most points is your dominant house. If you get a tie, which is not possible with 5 questions, but can be made possible just in case you can go with more than one options for any one or more of the questions, you may be a Hatstall. Lastly, the Sorting Hat always asks one last question about your preferred house, feel free to use it to your advantage if you are a Hatstall.):

The dominating themes in this quiz were intended to be a) motivations and desires, and b) coping mechanisms.

1. Exam question - Everyone is motivated to do well in their exams. But, how do you cope with an emergency?

A. RAVENCLAW - cope by gathering all the information possible in the short time . More knowledge, more wins.

B. HUFFLEPUFF - cope by following a set structure. Dedication and hardwork is their strength and they are loyal to a fault. Just give them something pre-made and fixed to follow.

C. SLYTHERIN - cope by getting the shortest and quickest route out. Do I have to know everything in the syllabus? No. Do I have to do well in the exam? Yes.

D. GRYFFINDOR - cope by not letting anxiety get the best of them. Who said I can't answer just because I didn't study? I will figure it out as it comes.

2. Temple, and ruler question - What is your driving force/motivation, better put as, higher purpose in life?

A. GRYFFINDOR - Chivalry, they would jump at the opportunity to alleviate others' pain.

B. SLYTHERIN - Ambition, power, and wealth, might I say just a bit of a show-off (or more), everybody will be rich and all houses look like fantastic mansions where I rule. No one gets to see an ugly, shabby house in my land. Perfection is the only thing I deserve.

C. RAVENCLAW - Curiosity/sharing knowledge, they believe that the true source of happiness is in the sating of curiosity. All ill health and all sadness are rooted in lack of knowledge. Finding out how to live is the key to live happily.

D. HUFFLEPUFF - Loyalty, morality, loyalty and following a set of existing rules is how they function best and think others also will live their best the same way.

3. Charity funds question - Driving force/motivation, higher purpose

A. GRYFFINDOR - Chivalry, standing up for the unfortunate. Doing something to help the unfortunate is the best way to get a Gryffindor going.

B. RAVENCLAW - Curiosity/sharing knowledge, teach everyone how to duel, the more they know, the better. Replace duelling with anything you like, they just want knowledge to be free for everyone.

C. HUFFLEPUFF - Loyalty, dedication, these loyal friends want to give back to the magical creatures who are so useful to us. Unlike Gryffindors, their motivation is not chivalry, therefore they wouldn't prioritize only the unfortunate, it can be any magical creature. As a bonus reason, they have a deep, profound love and loyalty for their own roots in Mother Nature. They understand that they share the same origins/family as other magical creatures and have a loyal duty towards them.

D. SLYTHERIN - Ambition, power, and wealth. So, tell me, who wants to be invincible? We all know, right?

4. Voice from unknown place question - Coping mechanisms

A. HUFFLEPUFF - Dedication, "Friend, did you say? I am coming. I don't care, even if I die. I will cope by telling myself that you are my FRIEND."

B. SLYTHERIN - Cunning, "Ain't no trusting nobody? I am always ready to combat betrayal."

C. RAVENCLAW - Knowledge, Knowledge is power, remember? Find out as much as you can to determine if you can trust them.

D. GRYFFINDOR - Bravery, I am not afraid to ask for what I want, however powerful the origin of the voice may be. Confront them directly and ask for solid proof.

5. Friend question - Driving force/motivations and desires, coping mechanisms and reactions

A. SLYTHERIN - Cunning and ambition, you hit the wrong nerve. Let me prove to you that I am better at the lying game.

B. GRYFFINDOR - Chivalry, Of course, I will help, irrespective of whether or not you are my friend. But, remember that just because I am helping you does not mean that I am your friend. Helping is in my nature.

C. HUFFLEPUFF - Loyalty, loyalty to friends cannot be broken so easily, even if they make a mistake.

D. RAVENCLAW - Curiosity and knowledge, ahah, friend or not friend? New question to ponder. New puzzle to figure out. Interesting!

Hufflepuff! No surprise there, as many people assume that’s the house I’d be sorted into. While they’re not wrong (my personality screams hufflepuff), I tend to wind up with a fairly even split between the four houses even where Ravenclaw winds up being on top the most frequently, and is the one I have always identified with the most. I take pride in all the traits I have that could push me into any of the houses, as I find each house to be beautiful in its own way, and I am more than happy by the idea of being viewed as a Hufflepuff based on this particular quiz!!

So I got GRYFFINDOR, although half of my question answers got me Ravenclaw which I am happy about. Regarding the final results, I do know I have Gryffindor traits, as I have traits of all the houses. I suppose in this specific quiz, what stood out over my Ravenclawness was Chivalry first and Bravery second, which I found fun and interesting. Some of the questions was hard for me as I did feel I have more than one answer to some but chose as closely accurate an answer as I could or would in the situation. Nicely done little fun sorting quiz I think.

MY RESULTS:
Ravenclaw (×3), Gryffindor (×1), Hufflepuff (×1) in no particular order.

RAVENCLAW! Honestly, I'm not surprised by the results, as Ravenclaw is the house that I most identify with. While I do indeed possess strong Gryffindor traits like chivalry and a bold spirit, and Hufflepuff traits such as loyalty, kindness, and a propensity for hard work, my predominant characteristics are distinctly Ravenclaw. I have always had a profound love for learning and a deep appreciation for wisdom, wit, and intellectual curiosity, which are the hallmarks of Ravenclaw. On the other hand, the typical Slytherin traits, are the least prominent within me. This alignment with Ravenclaw has always felt natural, but, I am of course proud to be a part of Gryffindor, despite having some of these Ravenclaw characteristics. My situation, I believe, is somewhat similar to my father’s, since the sorting hat said that he would do great in both, Slytherin as well as Gryffindor.
