What’s something scary that you saw or read? What made you so frightened? Was it perhaps even something scary that happened to you?

I remember we would always go to this extremely old creepy house once a year at night. It was on a hill in a forest so the mist would gather around it on the lower planes and we would walk around talking about fables, myths and scary stories. Someone would always be lurking to scare. And of course we would have watched scary movies just before or after.

When I was younger, I was scared of ghosts whenever I was left alone at home. One night, I was sleeping alone and the elders were busy chatting in another room. I was sleeping on a new mattress and the plastic package cover hadn't been taken off it. I didn't know about the plastic, because someone had covered it all with a bedsheet. I was restless on the bedsheet, trying hard to sleep but afraid of ghosts. As I tossed and turned, I happened to disturb the plastic around the mattress and a weird rustling sound was heard. I was so scared that I jumped up in fright and immediately switched on the lights, only to realise that it was the rustling of plastic when the elders were attracted by my screams and pulled off the bedsheet to show me the source of the sound and reassure me. I got over it but my siblings still tease me sometimes.
