Week 1 - Task 02. - Camp Banner Competition
Posted: Sun Aug 04, 2024 12:21 am
Now that you’ve gotten to know your teammates a little bit, it’s time to get started making amazing camp memories! As you head to the Dining Tent for lunch, people are talking about the first competition in the Magical Creature Clash! You are so excited to help your team win the Magical Creature Cup this summer, you can’t wait to find out what it is!
After you sit at the table for lunch, the Camp Director gets up at the front of the tent to address all the campers. A hush goes over the tent as everyone listens eagerly.
“Welcome to Camp Hogwarts!” He exclaims excitedly.
“You have now all been sorted into your teams, and I hope you have had a chance to get settled into your campsites and have gotten to know your teammates a little bit. I have just a few announcements before I tell you all what your first competition for the Magical Creature Cup will be!
“As always, the Forbidden Forest is off limits to everyone unless you are with a camp counselor. In addition, there will be lots of activities on the Great Lake this summer, but it is not open for independent free swim; only scheduled camp activities. This is for your own safety.
“In the past we have had some trouble with vandalism and sabotage with rival campsites. This is not acceptable, and any vandalism will result in the disqualification of the offending team from the Magical Creature Clash.
Now that we have that out of the way, we here at Camp Hogwarts are mostly concerned with having fun! And to that effect, the first competition for our Magical Creature Clash will be our Camp Team Banners! Each team will need to create a banner for your team to be displayed throughout camp. These banners will be judged based on creativity and camp spirit, but have fun! You will be carrying these banners around with you for the rest of camp!
“Good luck, and have fun!”
There’s a round of applause, and the campers around you start talking excitedly as the Camp Director sits down at his table.
“What should we put on our banner?”
“How are we going to beat the other teams?”
“It needs to be good, we’ve got to carry it around everywhere!”
Your teammates are getting excited, and so are you! You can’t wait to contribute your ideas to make the winning banner!
Task: Create a banner and avatar for your time here at camp. Your banner should include your team’s color and name, but other than that be creative! If you don’t know what team you have been sorted into, check the information post to find out. The typical size for an avatar is 100x100 pixels, and a banner/signature is 250x100 pixels, and also keep in mind that any embedded images must be no larger than 600x600.
Alternatively, you may describe your banner and avatar in 100 words or more.
This task is worth 10 beans, with 10 additional beans available if all Week One activities are completed. Everything is due by 11:59 pm HOL time on August 31st.
