Week 3 - Task 09. - Quidditch Tournament

You are excited as you wake up, because last night at dinner they announced today’s activity: a Quidditch Tournament! Everyone loves Quidditch, and you are hoping to make it onto your team’s Quidditch Team! This morning after breakfast, the teams will go off on their own to assess the abilities of their teammates and assemble their quidditch teams, and hopefully have time to run a few drills. Then, this afternoon, there will be a tournament that all the teams will participate in!

There are only seven players on a quidditch team, though, so while you hope you make the cut, there’s also a chance that you’ll be in the stands cheering your team to victory, which would be fun too!

Just in case, you figure you should probably write a cheer to help encourage your team if you don’t get to play. Every role is important!

Task: Write a cheer or chant to help cheer on your team! Please make it positive about your team and not negative about anyone else’s. Your cheer should be at least 75 words, but feel free to make it as long as you want! Post it in the comments below.

Alternatively, write at least 100 words on whether you would want to be on the quidditch team or in the stands and why.

This task is worth 10 beans, with 10 additional beans available if all Week Three activities are completed. Everything is due by 11:59 pm HOL time on August 31st.

Hip Hip Hurray! Hip Hip Hurray!
The chasers on their brooms are flexible like a sting ray.
From the stands, I cheer like a blue jay,
My team will win the match, Hip Hip Hurray!

The Seeker is sharp like a hawk,
The Beaters bludgeon like a fighter,
I can see them go, hair flying like mohawk,
We will win this together.

Hip Hip Hurray! Hip Hip Hurray!
Banners are no longer red, blue, green, or gray,
Camp Hogwarts banners everywhere, looking bright and gay,
My team will win, I say, Hip Hip Hurray!

Look at them go, look at them circle the hoop.
The Quaffle goes straight into the middle like a bird,
Well done! team, keep the Quaffle in the loop.
I will cheer till I cry, I will cheer till I am tired.

It's Quidditch time today
Oh what's fun it's going to be
The crowd is in,
The cheerings loud.

Let's go
You can do it
We believe in you
You can win it

You fly so fast
It's no doubt
You'll win the points
You'll get the Snitch.

The crowd is on their feet
You will not accept defeat
It's be a blast
We've had so much fun

It's your time
Believe it is
We cheer so loud
You'll win the game
We know you will.

Bowtruckle, Bowtruckle, hear our call!
Let’s win this game, we shall not fall!
We’re the best team, that’s no lie,
Watch us soar, up above the sky!

Passing, shooting, and catching fast,
We’ll win this game, and it won’t be the last!
Our Beaters, Chasers, and Seekers are ready,
Hey Mr. Keeper, you better get steady!

The golden snitch is like a shining light,
We’ll fly and catch it, with all our might.
Let’s hear it for our Quidditch crew,
They’ll amaze you, oh yes, it’s true!

So let’s all cheer loud, with all our glee,
Our victory’s coming, y’all shall see!

Starting with the Quaffle thrown in the air,
Team Bowtruckle will win this game fair and square!
The Seeker will catch the Golden Snitch,
Setting us up to win the game without a hitch.

Our Beaters will serve their roles with strength,
Helping ensure the game goes the length!
Protecting teammates from Bludgers with ease,
Soaring through the air, feeling the wind's breeze.

Earning ten points per goal, scoring one after one,
Team Bowtruckle's winning streak will only have just begun!

Let’s get this straight. No one in their right mind would pick me for their Quidditch team. Believe me, I would be much more of a hinderance than an asset. Any contributions I would contribute to the game might make for a good laugh or two, but no sports commentator would be singing my athletic prowess. I’m honestly not trying to belittle myself; it’s just the plain, unvarnished truth. Athlete extraordinaire I am not!

I am much more suited to staying in the stands and cheering my team on to victory. I can yell with the best of them, and I do tend to get enthusiastic watching sports, even if I can’t play them worth a darn. I would, you know, even be willing to don an outfit and become the team mascot. I could suffer being transformed into a hippogriff if it helped my team score the win. I may not be a good participant but I do believe I would make a darn good supporter. GO HIPPOGRIFFS, GO!

Team Bowtruckle, go, go, go!
Put all your skills out on show
Bowtruckle, ready, set, fly!
Rulers of the forest, now rulers of the sky

Named for a creature nimble and small
Dodge and twist and catch that ball
Named for a creature tiny and green
The best Quidditch team this world's ever seen

Team Bowtruckle, you've got this!
Our victory will be bliss
Bowtruckle, Bowtruckle, in your prime
Let's show them what we've got one more time

Oh no. I’ll choose to stay in the stands and cheer for my team instead of joining the Quidditch team. Being on the team could be disadvantaged for me and the team, because I might get hit and fall off my broom, and falling from that height is pretty scary. Besides, I’m better suited to supporting my team from the sidelines. I’ll make lots of cool banners and badges to help boost everyone’s spirits. I can be a dedicated motivator and enthusiastic supporter, contributing to the team’s morale and energy. This way, I can play an important role without the risks involved in playing.

If I'm being honest, I'm a bit torn on whether I'd be playing in the Quidditch Tournament or watching from the stands. In the muggle world, I am awful at sports and I am also afraid of heights, which in theory isn't a great combination for being great at Quidditch.

That being said, I think with enough practice, I might eventually be decent at Quidditch, and I've always dreamed of playing the sport. So let's say for this Quidditch Tournament, that I'm playing on the Bowtruckle team. Chaser is my favorite position to play, so I would probably be doing my best to score points and avoid Bludgers and other players during the Tournament. Maybe with any luck I would help my team win!

I have pretty poor balance and hand eye coordination so I would definitely wouldn’t be any help if I was playing on the team! I’ll be in the stands happily cheering for Team Hippogriff.
I’d help make banners and badges to help motivate the team and chant and sing from the sidelines. I’m not the biggest sports fan, but I can definitely be an enthusiastic supporter when it comes to something I enjoy-and Quidditch is definitely the most interesting and fast paced sport out there!

I would love to be part of a quidditch team as I find it exciting and I love sports, but I do have to say that I do not think anyone would have me on their team or choose to at the least since I am a bit clumsy and have a fear of heights. Taking in consideration the fact that I would need to have quick reflexes and be pretty sure of my situational awareness. With this in mind I would say I would most likely fit better being a supporter on the stands to my team. As fun as being a part of the team might look.

As much as I'd love to cheer for my amazing team members absolutely killing it on the Quidditch team, I am more of an action person. I love to represent my houses wherever possible, and what better opportunity than doing it on the sports pitch. If selected on the field I would probably take up the role of one of the Beaters or fly up as a Seeker. I have realised that my speed and keen observation helps me be a better fit for these positions to cover up for my aim coordination required to be a better Chaser or Keeper.

Haha, I think although I believe I’m a fantastic flier, but my anxiety would absolutely create havoc during the match and I might injure our chances at winning. I’m also not sure whether I’d be completely comfortable with that height of where the game is played.

So the stands are definitely for me. I’m more of a cheerleader than a player and I go all out with banners and pom-poms and noise makers and chanting. I can scream extremely loudly, so that’s a plus too. And I think I could band together fellow supporters to have a roaring support group for Team Niffler.

We’re Team Acromantula, strong and bold,
With eight legs of power, we break the mold!
In the webs we weave, our victories shine,
At Camp Hogwarts, it’s our time to climb!

Through the night and through the day,
Acromantula leads the way!
We’re brave, we’re strong, we rise, we fight,
In the darkest woods, we’re the light!

Spin, spin, spin that web,
Catch our dreams, never rest!
Team Acromantula, fierce and true,
We’re the champions through and through!

So shout it loud, let them hear,
Acromantula’s full of cheer!
Victory’s near, we feel the thrill,
Acromantula, climb the hill!
Go, Acromantula, go!
