Week 3 – Task 8 – Summer Collage

In the recruitment process for the clubs, you realize that you have been using your summer experiences as a way to bond and maybe persuade the other students that you have been interacting with. Everyone did something over the summer, whether it was something boring or exciting. Either way, at the beginning of the school year, it is an easy topic to bond over with anyone.

Each person that you have interacted with so far has had some interesting story to share with you. Even if they end up choosing to pass on joining the club you were recruiting them for, they still chose to have a brief conversation with you about their summer vacation.

When you go back to your dorm room, you are still thinking about your own summer vacation and how much fun you had this past summer. Your dorm mates notice the look on your face and ask you what you are thinking about. You explain to them how you have been recounting your summer vacation over and over again all day and hearing about other students’ summer experiences in return. You consider making something more lasting than your thoughts to remember your summer.

Task: Create a collage of at least 5 pictures that reflect what summer means to you and post it below. Please keep your graphics no more than 600 x 600 pixels, per HOL rules.

Alternatively, you can write in 100 words or more about how you feel about the summertime, what you like to do in the summer months, where you like to go or who you spend it with.

This task is worth 10 beans, with 15 additional beans available if all Week Three activities are completed. Everything is due by 11:59 pm HOL time on September 30th.

I love summertime and it is one of the most memorable times for me. Summertime where I am from happens over December to February so to me summer is christmas, new year and visiting family. Mostly it is about going to the beach or enjoying time by the pool. Taking nice long afternoon walks in the shady areas under the trees down the street or around the block. Summer is also a new year and new beginnings, Valentines and baking. We tend to bake more during this time than we do during winter or any other time. This time is mostly known as time to spend with family and to have fun with friends. To go out and enjoy the lovely weather.

Unfortunately, I'm at my busiest of the year in summertime, so I only have the time to do a little. I love attending a local market held every weekend when I get the chance, though most of my summer is spent staying home to spend the few free moments we have together. If I'm feeling up to it, sometimes I hike around a local trail or visit the lake around the trail to cool off and take in the scenery. There's a large rock formation on a mountain a bit of a drive away from where I live, but it's also a great place to be in the summer, with many people paragliding off of it on windier days.

I love spending time with my family over the summer. Most summers, me my sister and parents will go to a rented house in the south of France for a couple of weeks (sometimes with extended family too). We spend the days round the pool, reading in the grounds and exploring the local towns. The rest of the summer is a bit busier with my job, but we do take lovely walks with the dogs and sometimes take day trips to the British coast.

This summer, I went on a short holiday with my family, which was relaxing, but the majority of my time was spent wandering around London and going to the theatre. I managed to see about 20 productions in two months, which is definitely more than I thought I'd manage, but I had an amazing time seeing all the shows I could whilst I had the time during the week. I've never really known my own way around central London before, but now I do, and it's great to just wander around when I have time. I also visited a few museums around the city. I definitely want this to be how I spend my summers from now on!

While I prefer colder months, I'm really a late fall or early winter child, I do enjoy summer. Especially when I get to escape to a warmer climate.

I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking through forests or walking along the beach, feeling the sand between my toes and the sun on my skin. Barbecues with friends and family are a highlight too! I also love to travel during the summer, I usually visit the Mediterranean coast. Italy is always on my itinerary, but I also visit France, Spain, and at one time, Monaco.

I also enjoy 'long-distance' swimming, though I tend to do that in a pool, in case anything goes wrong and I can't hear of any danger in the ocean. In the ocean, I just putter around the shallows.
