  • HOL NEWS

My goodness, how have we made it past spooky season already?! Whether you were busy with Halloween, Día de Muertos, Samhain, or any similar festival(s) which celebrates this magnificent aspect of our lifecycle, I hope you all had a deathly good October. Now it’s time to start looking ahead to the next holiday feasts we’ll be sharing in the great hall soon enough as the weather gets colder and colder. Autumn at Hogwarts is glorious and vibrant, and the magic of our castle in winter is just around the corner.

If you haven't decided on any HOL Goals for 2024/2025 yet, head on over to The Great Hall and set some intentions for yourself. You may just earn yourself The Gold Spirit Award!!

While you're there, feel encouraged to get involved with or strike up some conversation in the Harry Potter and/or General Discussion sections of the main forums! Or go ahead and poke around the four House Common Rooms.

The hour glasses in the race for the house cup currently read as follows:

    | G: 5,007 | H: 4,183 | R: 6,442 | S: 7,091 |

Slytherin often takes an early lead the first few months of the year, but these numbers can change pretty quickly. Let’s stay diligent and up to date on Point Opportunities in The War Room with our Head of House, Prof. Ryan Granger so we can squawk our way to the top once again!

Fall Classes: Remember you can Take Up To Five Classes at a time, exploring fun new lessons and assignments over a variety of magical subjects, and earning as many as 1500 points for Ravenclaw.

Library Department: Why not submit your own work for A Day in the Life, with 20 points up for grabs! Due by November 14.

Art Department: Check out the current prompt to send in your Magical Numismatics for 20 points by November 30.

Book Club: Bringing back Flash Fiction Round 4, where you’re given three random words each week. You create a tiny story of 30 to 50 words with them. You’ll also have a chance to participate in Buy the Letter over the next couple months!

    RAVENCLAW

CONGRATULATIONS to Mia Fountain & Silvana Mandeville for taking on their new Head Prefect badges this year, as well as to Aquaria Sandalwood & Lex Green for their new positions as editors of our castle newspaper, The Howler!

Many well deserved kudos to June Michaels & Luna Ravenlong for being the top point earners of their nest this past month, and to our top sapphire earners over the same period, Adeline Morior, Galena May, Lex Green, & Luna Ravenlong.

Looking for something to do around The Roost? Consider contributing a new post or response in the E=MC Hammer forum or cast your debate in Bird to Differ. Update your journal in the Encyclopedia of Eagles, find yourself a pen-pal in Friends of a Feather, enjoy some puzzles and creativity in Blurred Brained, or hang out Below the Branches for some discussion and games. And don’t forget to keep track of the Sapphire Hourglasses!

BBO 2024: Scavenging for the Nests: Gather potions ingredients and catalogue various creatures on this scavenger hunt in the Forbidden Forest. Participate in Ravenclaw’s annual tradition of a little friendly competition in November. Who will be the winning team? We’ll locate that information soon enough. Beans/Sapphires & Awards up for grabs!!

    SLYTHERIN

    Silly Snakes: Games for everyone!

Creativity Club: Time for some pumpkin pie and gratitude!

Arcade Club: “Sonic the Hedgehog" is considered a mascot for Sega, as a counterpart to Nintendo's own Mario. In the game, your job is to control Sonic in his attempt to stop the evil Dr. Robotnik, who has created tonnes of robots with animals trapped inside; if you destroy the robot, you free the animals within.

    HUFFLEPUFF

Wonders of the World: Every month you’ll be brought activities which focus on some of wonderous aspects of our world. This month’s theme is Petra!

Creative Club: Snag the November Coloring & Puzzle Prompts!

Peeves Place: Come check out the ever-awesome, ever-amusing game section of the Gryffindor Common Room!
