This month we will be exploring Space. Share your songs about space below, whether they are directly about space or something about them reminds you of the universe. Or maybe aliens out there... who knows...
"Clouds, we will chase them out // Crowds, we will face them down This is our secret place // Outer space, outer space"
This song comes from the Russian duo's second album Dangerous and Moving (2005) after they'd originally become popular with previously released songs like "All The Things She Said" and "Not Gonna Get Us" from their introductory album 200 km/h in the Wrong Lane (2002), the first album by a foreign group to reach number one in Japan.
I was a big fan of Lena Katina and Julia Volkova, personally loving both of these albums among other works I've heard, and this song still pops into my head once in a while. You can see hear why it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this month's theme! <3
That's a pretty cool song Sindor! I do remember both tATu and this song. I have a lot of good memories of dancing to these at school dances
Mine is "Back from Mars" by Aqua. It is a little earlier than tATu, but I remember listening to it when I had the first two albums of this band running pretty much on repeat while playing with my barbie dolls and lego belville.
Yeeeees, we were just talking about Aqua the other day ^_^
I was reminiscing to my boyfriend how when me and my sister were younger and taking dance classes there was one company-wide ensemble number we all did to 'Barbie Girl,' which my then nine-year-old self was ALL about, hahaha, but my poor sister who was a few years older than me (and not at all the kinda person who would be into it) was basically just like WHEN WILL THIS END!?!?
Unfortunately Will didn't know what I was talking about. He's twenty years older than me and wasn't ever familiar with the song/band, so he couldn't quite appreciate just how funny it would be to picture me skipping around singing "I'm A Barbie Girl in a Barbie World" while also (obviously) playing both parts alternating switching gears into DEEP-VOICE-KEN-MODE, with my sister glaring in the background. ;P
Also, I'm so glad you remember this song! Most of the people I've met who knew of t.A.T.u. never really knew their music or heard much/any of this album.
Oh that does sound hillarious though! I love that! I never did that to an aqua song, BUT I did do it to a Spice Girls song where I would dance to the song with four friends of mine - all dressed up of course. Wonderful memories
