— Do you believe in the perfectness of where you are? Here’s our people, here’s our children, here’s the land that we would fight for. —
It jumps you, appearing back in the midsts of your homework group who remain just as silent and still as before, stuck motionless between their carefree, summertime conversations.
Dazed and exhausted, you press the angel materializing at your side to explain how they could possibly live in a state like that all the time.
“Angels have not always lived in the higher dimensions,” Saffron drifts in little circles around your peers. “Actually, we were the ones who dove deepest down into the lower planes in order to learn and make way for these higher frequencies to be embodied by the rest of our travelers.”
“Travelers?”
“Of course,” the many wings surrounding Saffron’s body repeatedly close tightly, encasing themselves in a feathery cacoon before lengthening out once more. “We are all on a journey, and our travels have crossed with so many others. If you think about it,” their many eyes twinkle affectionately, “since the Annunaki were born of Angels, then in their involvement with your evolution, humankind are like our grandchildren in a way.”
This hadn’t occurred to you, and the idea fills you with wonderment as Saffron continues.
“These are not the only fantastical connections between the races. The Reptilians merged with the Annunaki long ago and have been working together for millennia, just as the Greys have been fostering alliance with humanity for some time now. Even with all of our differences, we become more like family with every passing eon.”
All at once you’re overcome with excitement to share what you’ve been learning with the others, until you remember the part about forgetting everything on the other side of this expedition.
After expressing the unfairness while throwing your hands up at how ridiculous it seems having been shown all of this only to forget, Saffron comforts you by saying that, “Your conscious self may not remember, but your body won’t forget. You have been getting exposed to these new ideas over many visits you cant actively recall, but which are nonetheless helpful to others, and have prepared you for what’s to come ahead.”
“But why then erase the memories? Why can’t I keep them?”
“Sometimes,” Saffron pats you gently on the head, which you’d normally have felt to be patronizing, but in this case allow yourself to be placated, “the only way to play your role correctly is to block out all memory of anything other than what you yourself are meant to know at any moment.”
“I still don’t understand what this all has to do with me,” you fret.
Saffron replies, “You are one of the many people who are going to be waking up soon.”
Giving a sniff, you reckon that you’re plenty awake, thank you very much.
“This is a different kind of awakening, and it’s a very special one. One of the most special. In due time, humans are set to be the most highly revered of all creatures across the galaxies”
“What?”’ you scoff. “Humans? That can’t be right.”
“Yes, child,” Saffron promises. “Do not underestimate your people as the rest of us have. It is you who will hold the highest of positions. Even above the Angels.”
Before you have a chance to pry a little further, they touch the middle finger of their left hand to just above the place at the center of your eyebrows.
Instantly they vanish, taking your memories with them as both sound and motion return to the Astronomy tower.
You expect that your mind must have been wandering off as one of the Ravenclaw prefects sneezes. Yanking you out of a daydream, it takes a moment to recall what everyone in the group was talking about.
Ah, yes… you tune back in. Extraterrestrials.
“Who cares if there’s life on other planets?” Someone asks. “They clearly have no interest in coming by ours for a visit, so what’s it to us?”
In spite of being so perturbed mere moments ago, something in the air invites a tingling of goosebumps over your entire body, and you smile privately to yourself.
Unclear of why exactly, your heart has become so unexpectedly full of excitement for the future. That whatever this next chapter holds will be more glorious than you can hope to anticipate.
“…Are you sure about that?” you ask your classmate with a grin.
