Week Four - Task 12. - “Case Cracked”

Postby Katherine Laurier » Sat Oct 26, 2024 5:12 am

You keep your discovery to yourself, knowing the officials would freak if they found out about magic. You know it’s going to be interesting anyway as you watch them attempt to unfold the scene.

The discovery enlightened you about things you hadn’t thought possible before. You could believe that magic was real more than you could believe you were able to figure that out!

But now, it was time to sit back and relax, for the case has been cracked.

Task:
Write a poem of at least 125 words about one or more of the following topics: transformation, change, mystery, revelation, perseverance, magic, discovery.

Alternatively, write at least 175 words about how the case would be resolved by the government or experts, such as if they would come to the same conclusion or leave it as unsolved, especially considering this is set in the Muggle world. You may also think about an excuse or reason they might make, as silly or as serious as you would like it to be!

This task is worth 15 beans/sapphires. You can earn an additional 10 bonus beans for completing all Week Four tasks by Friday, October 31st, at 11:59 PM (HOL time).

I think if the experts or government of the muggle world would have to investigate, it would have either been sealed or covered up or “explained” away via some story that would make sense to them no matter how far-fetched. Especially since they are not supposed to be aware of the magic world beyond those small groups that are in contact or in place to assist the magical world in being invisible or ‘non-existing’ in the eyes of muggles. Someone would have most likely gotten the blame for trying to pull in their opinion some elaborate hoax.

There is also the possibility that word would get around about this mysterious thing and as per usual, people or ‘experts’ from around the world would be drawn into some sort of exciting conspiracy adventure and try to prove whatever story they have made up or associated with the events. We have many such examples in the muggle world already. Unfortunately for the environment and forest. The governments would likely have to seal the area off or try and convince people that it is just a misunderstanding with no real significance.

Humans are much like the weather,
With each being capable of change yet remaining rooted by a tether.
Funnily enough, they can often be linked to each other,
Capable of granting freedom, or even feeling like it's a smother.

Starting with the seasons: summer, autumn, winter, and spring,
Often, this causes the emotions in humans to swing.
It also depended on rain, snow, wind, or shine,
All of this is based on how that and their preferences align.

It could be good or bad, depending on the person,
Improving for someone, while for another, it could worsen.
Weather and emotions can change on a dime,
As we've borne witness to time after time.

Change is inevitable, in nature and within,
You can only take it in stride and roll with its spin.

I can think of a thousand things the Muggle experts would contrive to explain it away.
Of course, no scientific explanation would be found, given how quickly trees of that huge adult size sprung up in that place overnight. The villagers would have seen or heard nothing and the vanished neighbors would never be found.
One of the most popular theories used by Muggles to cover up the unexplained is alien invasion. They would likely come up with a theory that aliens had abducted the forest from our Earth in the past, long ago, before humans settled in that area. After their research on our botanical specimens, they abducted the humans of the village to study the next species they found themselves interested in. Meanwhile, they decided to return the forest, but just dropped it in the place where the village existed, perhaps because their spaceship was in a hurry to leave. Some enthusiastic gossip-friendly locals would help corroborate the officers' theories by offering themselves up as witnesses, and claiming that they had seen bright lights in the sky at night, which decended downwards and came quite close until it looked like a spaceship. Then, a bright flash of light was seen and they fell asleep, only to wake up in the morning and hear of the tragedy.
The forest can also acquire a reputation as haunted, or it may become a frequented tourist spot for mystery-hunters and paranormal lovers, and make its place among the mysteries of the Muggle world on the websites of the Muggle internet.

I think it’s likely that the muggle government would leave this case unsolved. There would likely be several conspiracy theorists with explanations such as alien invasion, witchcraft and the idea that we’re in a computer simulation, but these would all obviously be ignored.

I think that they would probably say that it was all some kind of hoax or big misunderstanding-that the villagers were confused about how long the forest had been there or had made the whole thing up as a prank and that the village had never existed in the first place.

In the depths of the forest, where there's no walkway,
Whispers of magic swirl and branches sway.
Moonlight weaves through unknown trees,
Dancing softly on the breeze.

Like the river that flows so deep,
The night runs cold, with secrets to keep.
Stars align above in a grand tapestry,
The view all but blocked by a green canopy.

Mysteries hide themselves in the mist,
Elusive dreams, fleeting memories to resist.
Potions brewed in a cauldron’s glow,
The mystery of magic we’ll never know.

Glimmers of enchantment spark the night,
With every breath, the world set alight.
In every glance, a story lies,
Filling that tapestry woven up in the starlit skies.

So seek the magic, chase the unknown,
And then in every new place, you'll find your home.
For in the depths of mystery's embrace,
We find the magic of our very own place.
