Week 1 - Task #2 | Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee

Postby Amy Smith » Mon Jun 03, 2024 7:09 pm

Oh no!! When you reached the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee, you saw that everyone was frantic. It seemed as though multiple magical creatures managed to reach the muggle world. You noticed that even Jason was in shock, but he looked calm at the same time. The employees didn’t know what excuse to make as news about the sightings of the magical creatures was spreading and obligation would not help.

After a moment, you heard Jason say, “Well…. It seems that there are magical creatures out in the muggle world. It’s wonderful news for you as you’ll be finally able to work. So, when in situations like this, you need to be calm. You cannot afford to panic. Do remember these two things, Now, I want you to come up with excuses that we can give the Muggle government, the more ideas the better. Once everyone has made the excuses, we’ll then review them and choose the most suitable one.”

Task:
Your task is to come up with 5 excuses that Jason can give the Muggle Government to make it seem as tho the magical creatures were something else.

This task is worth 10 beans; you get an additional 10 beans if you submit the week one task by the end of this week. You have until June 30th, 2024 11:59 PM HoL time to submit the task.

1) It was a promotion for a new fantasy film called “Mythical Creatures and Where to Find Them”. The production company hired a realistic animatronics and special effects company to create these models for the movie. As a marketing move, they orchestrated this whole public show which would gain them global news coverage.

2) The marketing team of a new theme park that is being created by a millionaire, launched this event where realistic animatronics and actors in hyper-realistic costumes gain public attention before the theme park even starts getting built, in order to attract investors.

3) A tech startup was conducting a public demonstration of their new advanced mini-drone-rendered holographic technology, which creates highly realistic images of creatures along with another advanced sound system that generates realistic sound effects to pair with the generated holograms. Since they are a startup, they are hoping to gain a lot of angel investors after this public stunt.

4) It was a large-scale social experiment to observe how the public would react to unknown entities that could potentially be dangerous. It was conducted by a private social welfare organisation that specialises in coming up with unique solutions to rare and unique problems that are often neglected by everyone else due to their rarity. Their goal was to observe public behaviour and then come up with a set of contingency plans if any unknown creatures ever posed a threat to humanity, and the measures taken by the government did not work. They used realistic animatronics to conduct this social experiment.

5) An animal rights group orchestrated this publicity stunt to raise awareness about endangered species. Their primary goal was to draw attention to their group and their ongoing efforts to preserve all endangered animal species. They used lifelike models and actors in elaborate costumes for this.

1. It was an outstanding projection show to create publicity for an upcoming animal-themed fashion show.
2. A robotics convention was taking place nearby, and some teenagers decided it would be funny to scare the public with the creature-looking robotics.
3. It was part of a study to test the general population's compassion by examining whether they would help animals of unknown origin over fellow humans.
4. They were costumes for a parade around town and wanted to see if their reactions were good or bad so they could change costumes the day of.
5. They are recalled children's toys from a company that creates toys from children's drawings and allows them to walk for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, the internal mechanism fails to stop them from walking, so they continue on, and some have escaped the recollection center.
