Week 1 - Task 2 - Formal Introductions

After letting some of your creativity out, you feel a bit more focused and in tune with your surroundings. Drawing allowed you to express yourself for your own sake. Now you turn to your friends to discuss with them everything that has been on your mind. While you were drawing, someone new joined the group in your compartment. You have seen them around the castle before but you never tried to talk to them before. One of your friends noticed that they were sitting by themselves in a different compartment and invited them to join your group for the remainder of the train ride. You had been so caught up in your work that you didn’t notice the addition to the group. You smile at the new person.
All of the other members of your friend group have already introduced themselves to the new friend. You are the last one to address them and tell them about yourself as your friends have done. In exchange, the new person introduces themselves to you.

Task: Write an introduction about yourself in 150 words or more. Tell us about your interests, your favorite classes, your favorite candies, your favorite piece of trash, anything that you are comfortable with sharing while remaining HOL-appropriate. Please remain generic if you choose to share anything about your real life, per HOL rules.

Alternatively, you can color any image that you find that speaks to you or that you think represents you in some way. Please keep your graphics no bigger than 600 x 600 pixels.

This task is worth 10 beans, with 15 additional beans available if all Week One activities are completed. Everything is due by 11:59 pm HOL time on September 30th.

Autumn is one of my favourite seasons

I am first year Ravenclaw, who loves reading, films and the theatre. Outside of the HP series I mainly read crime thrillers and old “classic” novels, but have a growing interest in books about Greek mythology. I don’t think I can pick a favourite film, as I have quite an eclectic taste, but I do love Disney Pixar, crime thrillers and some older classics like “Some Like it Hot.” My favourite classes that I’m taking this year are Defence against the Dark Arts, as that’s one of my favourite classes mentioned in the Harry Potter books and Family Studies, as I like looking at the families in the series in more depth. I love animals, especially my two dogs, and have a particular fondness for goats. I also enjoy puzzles, quizzes and board games.

My name is Galena May. A questioner by tendency, an INFP by MBTI, an Enneagram 9, a Ravenclaw by the Pottermore Sorting Hat quiz and hopefully also by the upcoming Sorting Ceremony once we step down from this train and go to the Great Hall to be sorted, I am very excited and pleased to meet you. I love talking to different people so please say hi wherever you see me. I enjoy creative pursuits, and long discussions. I prefer wizard's chess and gobstones over physical sports like Quidditch, but I would love to watch you play if you are a player. I prefer savory food over sweet, but I am not above dessert cravings from time to time. My love languages are quality time and acts of service. I am actually waiting for the Lady's trolley right now, and what may I get you? Personally, I enjoy candies that are out of the ordinary and scream magic, for e.g. exploding bonbons and ton-tongue toffee, and I am going to get a few of these once the trolley appears. I am looking forward to canon classes the most, for I am a fan of Harry Potter canon, but I actually also enjoy twists on them. I don't have a favorite yet, because we are yet to go to class, but I think I may find Charms, Muggle Studies: Hidden Powers I, and Prophecies amusing, even the Unforgivable Curses as a variant of DADA, but I have also been keeping my eyes peeled for Magical Cooking and Healing for next term, because I enjoy these. I also have a special liking for Divination.
