Week Two - Task Four

Postby Anne-Marie Gagne » Tue Apr 08, 2025 11:03 pm

While discussing ideas for things to do during the week of Easter, someone brings up a good point. Food! There should be food available throughout the day when activities are happening that week. The morning and evening meals will obviously be set up by the staff and the house elves down in the kitchens, but you and the committee should come up with foods that can be eaten for lunch as well as snacks. You know what you and your family usually do for any family get together, but you’d like some ideas from the rest of the group to try and cover a lot of different tastes.

For this task, tell us about any special food(s) you look forward to when your family comes together for a holiday in 100 words or more. For this task, it can be about anything that you seem to only have around any holiday in the year (if you want to share one that you only seem to only see around Christmas time, that’s perfectly okay!)

Please post your reply by April 30th at 11:59PM HOL Time. If you complete all of the Week Two tasks by the end of the month, you’ll receive a BONUS 10 beans/sapphires.

Although it's not particularly limited to Easter, I look forward to ham anytime I can get my hands on it! In theory, I could get it and make it myself at any time, but some circumstances prevent me from having pork, in particular, at home. I also love baked mac and cheese, which isn't limited to a specific holiday in my family but is a favorite nonetheless. However, one food item seemingly limited to Easter for us is carrot cake! It's probably my favorite part of Easter dinners. Although technically considered a dessert, it's a nice fit for an Easter-exclusive food.

They’re not something particularly limited to Easter, but one food we always have with the main meal is Yorkshire puddings which I completely adore. We don’t have them that often, but they always appear with both Christmas and Easter dinner-crisp but not too crunchy on the outside and perfectly soft in the middle. In my opinion, Yorkshire puddings must always be covered with large amounts of gravy, and eaten first, as they are nowhere near as good when they’ve started to go cold. Though my mum usually takes charge of most of Christmas/Easter dinner, the Yorkshires are normally my dads job-as he did grow up in the county they’re named after.
