Grey's Anatomy
Saving Lives Every Day in their Own Way

by Jenna Hathaway

Starting as a midseason replacement show, Grey's Anatomy has become such a big show of its own today, accumulating a large fan base. The series has won Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards and is now very popular in many countries. If you haven't checked it out, you should; it's guaranteed to be addicting. Grey's is a mix between comedy and drama in a medical setting. It tells the story about Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), a surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital in Seattle. In her first day as an intern, she got the biggest shock of her life when she realized the guy she'd slept with the night before turned out to be her new boss, Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), an attending surgeon at the hospital. From this little incident, the story began.

Meredith soon met the other interns as well: Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), George O'Malley (T.R. Knight), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), and Alex Karev (Justin Chambers). The group of interns had their own problems to solve as time went by, and conflicts and love between one another or between them and the attending doctors created intricate storylines and complicated matters that made each episode interesting to watch. Things got even more complex when at the end of the first season Meredith discovered that Derek, who she'd grown close to throughout the season, actually had a wife. Addison Shepherd (Kate Walsh) arrived in Seattle Grace Hospital, creating a new dilemma between the couple.

It's easy to fall in love with Grey's Anatomy, because each character is unique and his or her development throughout the series is interesting to watch. Each episode has its own appeal and not a single one of the episodes have been disappointing. As the storyline moves along, we discover more and more about the characters and of course, there's that comedic touch that can always make you laugh with its one-liners and catchphrases. For example, most people are very familiar with the nickname McDreamy and soon they're coming up with their own "Mc-Nicknames," thanks to Grey's Anatomy. The show also has great songs as its soundtracks and is definitely not something you should miss. If you can't decipher most of the "doctor talk," don't worry, neither can I. Just enjoy the drama! So what are you waiting for? Next time you see it on, sit down and watch; you won't regret it.," don't worry, neither can I. Just enjoy the drama!
