And for those who've watched J-dramas and have seen Hana Kimi – omgah *squeeeeee* It's just so omgah<3333liekwhoa ne? **

Introduction

Full Name: Hanazakari no Kimitachi e

Shortened Name: Hana Kimi

English Translation: For You In Full Blossom

Hana Kimi is, like most J-dramas, based on a manga. Like Hana Yori Dango, the Japanese live-action version of Hana Kimi is, in fact, the second one produced. This adaption stars Oguri Shun (from Hana Yori Dango) as Sano Izumi, and Horikita Maki (also in Nobuta wo Produce) as Ashiya Mizuki. It finished airing the last week of September 2007 and consists of twelve episodes. Other names from the drama that some of you may have noticed around IRC include Nakatsu, Nanba, and possibly even Kagurazaka.

Storyline

The plot has, I believe, deviated quite a bit from the original manga. It centres around Ashiya Mizuki, who we first see joining Osaka High as a new student. Now, this school is in fact an all-boys school, and yes, as you may have guessed it, Mizuki is a girl! Yes, this idea's been used many times in movies, etc., but in Hana Kimi it just works!

Now, without giving too much away, I'll simply explain that Sano Izumi is a promising young high-jumper whom Mizuki admires. This is part of the reason she enrolls at Osaka High. The drama follows the friendships Mizuki makes, and the challenges she faces during her time at the school, including her developing relationships with Nakatsu and Sano.

Reasons to watch it:

- - Well, for any lovers of boys reading this, how should I put this ... it takes place at an ALL BOYS school. Enough said!

- - There's a wide variety of characters, and the story develops nicely with friendship, romance, and moments of pure comedy to keep you hooked throughout the entire series.

- - There are 3 dormitories at Osaka High, and the rivalry between the three is the focal point of most episodes, providing all the amusement you could want.

- - More specifically: Sano = *squeeeee*; Nakatsu is kawailiekwhoasomuch<3; Nanba is cute/funnyliekwhoa; and Kagurazaka is just zomgit'sShirotayo. I think I'll make myself stop there *G*

The only negative aspects to this series I can think of are that a) it can become horribly time-consuming and b) Shun (like in HYD) spends most of his time looking moody (although he does smile occasionally).

Still not convinced? Need more reasons to watch it? Well, for one, it was this drama that managed to get Miss Rosanna Gullveig rather addicted to the J-drama scene – and all I did was suggest she watch the first ten minutes of it! Other Ravenclaws to give Hana Kimi their stamp of approval include the Ever-scary Penguin Queen (a.k.a. Cassandra Lobiesk) and Miss Ayahzy Nahki. As for the list of Gryffindors who've watched it? It's an incredibly ridiculously horribly long one. Yup.

In conclusion, Hana Kimi is awesomely awesome! *nod*
